In the Yemeni Highlands of southwestern Yemen, Taiz (Ta'izz) is a city that is dramatically situated along a steep mountainside. The streets of the former capital zigzag along the slope beneath the grand peak of Mount Saber. An ancient Mizrahi quarter known as Jewish Sharab is located in the affluent city, contributing to its status as a major industrial centre.
