June Festivals
BBC Cardiff Singer of the World: one of the favourites on the annual events calendar, the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition has been held during the month of June since 1983. More than 200 singers from countries around the world descend on Cardiff, hoping to take home this coveted title.
July/August Festivals
The Cardiff Festival: held over six weeks during July and August each year, this is the largest free festival you’ll find in Europe. More than a half-million people attend, enjoying the many theme park-style rides and events, and significantly increasing Cardiff’s population during this time. A special Children's Festival is featured on the grounds of Cardiff Castle and the overall highlight of the festival is known as the ‘Big Weekend Celebration,’ occurring in August.
September Festivals
Orchestral Concert Series: from September until May, the city sponsors a highly-popular concert series held at the lovely St David's Hall. World-renowned orchestras feature at each of the programmes.
October Festivals
Halloween Festival: is held at the end of October, at St Fagans, which is just to the west of Cardiff. The Halloween Festival can be great fun for the whole family, and the kids in particular will enjoy the ghost stories, trick-or-treating and the costume parties. There’s also music and food on offer and some very colourful exhibits and displays that should keep the adults engaged.
