Introduction to Tredegar, Wales
Situated in the southeast of Wales, not far from the border with England in the county of Monmouthshire, Tredegar is a small town that was previously prominent as part of the trade in iron ore and coal in the area.

Given its prior significance, the town features a wealth of historic old buildings, many of which are now major attractions in the area, including the iconic town clock with its tower decked out in yellow and red and Bedwellty House, a listed structure.

Built in 1818 as the home of local iron and coal tycoon Samuel Homfray, the house is now open to the public with its huge 26-acre gardens and Edwardian-style bandstand as well as its single 15-tonne block of coal, extracted nearby for display at the Great Exhibition of 1851.

Tredegar hotels are numerous given the town's many attractions, with most accommodation lying on Castle Street and the Promenade in the centre.
