Introduction to Porthcawl, Wales

Porthcawl is a beautiful coastal town, within an easy drive from the Welsh city of Cardiff. This means that many people from Cardiff often go to Porthcawl for the weekend to unwind along the sea. Porthcawl hotels are all pretty much spread throughout the town, with some of the nicest located right off the coastal Esplanade Road within walking distance from the Porthcawl promenade. There are many restaurants, shops and cafes all along the promenade, which is the main tourist attraction of the town. There are excellent views across the Bristol Channel from all along the promenade. Northwest of town you can explore the sand dunes called the Kenfig Burrows and look for the ruined remains of Kenfig Castle, which was sucked in to the sand around 1400 AD. For fun right in town check out Coney Beach, an amusement park beach area with three golf courses, entertainment and other fun stuff.
