Introduction to Penrhyndeudraeth, Wales
Located in scenic Gwynedd County in the northwest of Wales, Penrhyndeudraeth - meaning peninsula with two beaches in English - is a picturesque coastal village beside the Afon Dwyryd estuary.

Nearby are Traeth Mawr and Traeth Bach, meaning big sands and little sands respectively, with the longtime Ffestiniog Railway still crossing the embankment that runs through the area.

Dating back to 1836, this short railway line remains a major tourist attraction given its remarkable route through the nearby hills.

Penrhyndeudraeth serves as the headquarters of Snowdonia National Park and is therefore a suitable base from which to tackle walks in the area, including the notorious Snowdon Horseshoe which takes in the highest peak in England and Wales, Snowdon.

This is a predominantly Welsh-speaking village, with three-quarters of the tiny local population able to converse in the local tongue.

Penrhyndeudraeth hotels range from the basic to glamorous, with a few four and five-star offerings in the near vicinity.
