Introduction to Pembroke Dock, Wales
Pembroke Dock is situated in the county of Pembrokeshire in South West Wales. The town began life as a fishing village and was only properly built up in the early 1900s, when the dockyard was relocated here from Milford. The town is younger than nearby Pembroke and has a population of just over 8,500. Over the years, much of the population has worked at the docks; however, these days, much of the maritime industry has gone. The Gun Tower Museum is Pembroke Dock's main attraction and provides insight into the role the town played in the British Army's development as well as details on what was once the country's largest Royal Dockyard. There is a regular ferry service to Rosslare in Ireland and a railway station offers daily service to and from Swansea via Whitland. There are a couple of Pembroke Dock hotels located near the waterfront, while keen golfers may be pleased to learn that there is a golf course in the town. other spellings: pemblalke dockhotels, pembroke dock otel, pmbrokedock hotell, pebroke dockhote
