Introduction to Monmouth, Wales
Located near the English border, Monmouth is a beautiful Welsh town on the convergence of the River Monnow and River Wye. The centre of town is Agincourt Square, where most of the shops and restaurants are located. The scenery here is classic Welsh, with lovely old buildings and churches dating back to medieval days. The Town Hall and Nelson Gardens are just two of the historic highlights here. The 13th-century bridge spanning the River Monnow is the only one of its kind left in Britain. The main thoroughfare is the A40 road, which runs just southeast of the town centre. Wyebridge Street leads off the A40 straight into the heart of town. Hotels in Monmouth are clustered in two different areas of town, one in the town centre itself off Monnow Street and Glendower Street and the other on the eastern side of the city across the river right off Staunton Road.
