Introduction to Machynlleth, Wales
Known as the ancient capital of Wales, Machynlleth is a historically important market town in the western region of the country. Machynlleth is located on the junction between the A489 (Heol Maengwyn) and A487 (Heold Y Doll) roads. These two roads are the main gateway into the town, and the location of almost all of the Machynlleth hotels that include historic inns and comfortable hotels. The railway station is located at the northern end of the downtown, offering excellent rail connections to the rest of the UK. Being an ancient market town, Machynlleth holds a large and lively market fair every Wednesday, featuring locally made produce along with handicrafts and art. The Wales Museum of Modern Art is located in the town, giving visitors a chance to see where Welsh artistic impression is heading. Its downtown core is dominated by its iconic clock tower, and its streets lined with all kinds of interesting shops with a distinctly Welsh character.
