Introduction to Flint, Wales
Flint is a town in the northeastern Welsh county of Flintshire. Its population of just fewer than 13,000 makes it the county's third-largest town. The town is situated just a few kilometres from the English border, and the Wirral can be seen by looking across River Dee from Flint. The town's castle was the first out of a number of castles constructed during King Edward I's mission to conquer Wales, and the site was picked for its strategic location in North East Wales, close to Chester and easily accessible via the River Dee. Flint's market dates as far to a charter which was granted in 1278, just a year after King Edward I defeated Llewelyn in the Welsh War. Flint hotels and guest houses are located throughout the town, with some of the biggest hotels being located on Chester Road, or the A548, which runs straight through the town. A number of restaurants, bars and other facilities, such as supermarkets, can also be found on this road.other spellings: flinthotels, friegnt otel, fliegng hotell, friegng hotes, fleignt hotle, freignt hotal, fleigng
