Introduction to Aberystwyth, Wales
The popular university town of Aberystwyth on the Ceredigion coast is an excellent tourist area. Beautiful sunsets over Cardigan Bay and the ruins of Aberystwyth Castle are a highlight. Tourists have a good choice of hotels in Aberystwyth, from basic to plush. Most of the town’s tourist amenities are located on the seafront or just behind the High Street. The area is a party town, mainly due to the 9,000 students who study here. There is an abundance of lively bars and Italian or Indian restaurants to try out. Regular boat trips during the summer months are available, on which dolphins and seals can be seen; sea-fishing charter boats can also be hired. Art lovers will want to pay a visit to the local Arts Centre, where dance, theatre and cinema complement the on site galleries. During the summer months it is possible to take the funicular railway up to the summit of Constitution Hill, where a camera obscura is located. Walkers can make the trek to neighbouring Borth via a coastal path that runs past beaches.
