Thich Ca Phat Dai Pagoda: is situated on the north side of Nui Lon Mountain and is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site for believers across Vietnam. There is a huge statue of the Buddha which stands over six metres tall, and the temple grounds incorporate a sizeable area of parkland perfect for picnicking.
Statue of Jesus: is a huge sculpture perched on Nui Nho Mountain and immediately brings to mind Brazil’s iconic statue. Standing at 30m, the statue is hollow and has a spiral staircase leading to the head, which affords spectacular view of the area. The statue is reached by a concrete pathway and takes about 30 minutes to climb.
Nui Nho and Nui Lon: are two well known mountains situated on the peninsula near Vung Tau. Nui Lon is the larger of the two, and has some important temples, while Nui Nho boasts the seemingly out of place Statue of Jesus. Both mountains have magnificent views of the coastline and hinterland regions.
Vung Tau Harbour: is filled with traditional fishing boats which make it a beautiful place to visit and watch as the fishermen go about their daily chores. Fresh seafood is uploaded onto the docks in the early morning and evening, with much of the catch earmarked for the best restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City.
Bai Truoc is the most convenient to the town and has many open air restaurants, cafes and bars along its shore, making it more popular in the evenings as its water is not the cleanest. Bai Dau is the best for sunsets. Other beaches in the area include Bai Dao and Paradise Beach.
