By plane: modern Da Nang International Airport is only about 20kms to the north of Hoi An and receives flights from Hanoi and Saigon, as well as direct from the likes of Bangkok and Singapore. Taxis run to Hoi An from the airport, although they are relatively expensive coming away from the airport due to a monopoly. Taxis in the other direction are about half price.
By train: although there is no railway station in Hoi An, nearby Da Nang has a station which receives services from Saigon, Hanoi, Hue, and many other popular Vietnamese towns and cities.
