Cua Dai Beach: is only three kilometres from town and is a popular escape from the bustle of Hoi An. The road passes lagoons and rice paddies and is a nice bike ride, while the beach itself offers great bathing, swimming and surfing. The other big attraction in this area is the Cham Islands, which lie just offshore of Hoi An and are accessible by tour boat.
Eating and drinking: options are pretty good in Hoi An, where fresh seafood can be had in numerous restaurants, from the cheap hawker stalls to fine dining in one of the many resorts. Places to eat include the excellent morning market and Bach Dang; the latter of which has many good restaurants and goes along the riverfront road.
The nearby Yellow Star Cafe is also worth a look, as is its next-door neighbour, ChamPa where wine and cultural dance performances are offered. The well-heeled of Hoi An tend to head for the Mango Rooms; a popular bistro.
Shopping: in Hoi An is excellent and there are well over 150 stores in the city. The main items for sale are tailor-made clothes, Vietnamese art and souvenirs.
