There have been a few confirmed cases human avian influenza (bird flu) in Vietnam. Tourists are advised to avoid as much as possible being in close proximity to bird i.e. avoid visits to bird or duck farms and villages as the Vietnamese villagers usually rare these birds.
It is also wise to wear long sleeved shirts and long pants after dusk. Ensure that your room has a mosquito net or mosquito guards on the windows. Mosquito;es do not usually like the cold and air condition do;es help prevent mosquito bites.
Visitors are advised not to drink water directly from the tap as this is not potable. Always drink bottled water or drinks which are easily available in almost all restaurants. Bottled water and drinks can also be easily purchased from the supermarkets and grocery stores.
