Festivals and Events in Vietnam
There are three main national festivals in Vietnam with the biggest being the Tet festival.
February Festivals

Tet Festival: is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year and is celebrated all over Vietnam. It is a time of great joy and celebration in the country. The city shuts down for three days as people take the time to reunite with families and indulge in eating, drinking and other social activities.
In the pagodas on the hills and in boats the farmers and fishermen sing different songs. There is also a weaving competition at this time where the weavers sing and weave at the same time. There are processions, special ceremonies and many other activities to enjoy during the Lim festival.
March Festivals

Perfume Pagoda Festival: is held at My Duc, about 70 km from Hanoi, and is a pilgrimage to the famous Buddhist temple here. It is not only Buddhist who make the pilgrimage as many tourists join in as well. The views on the route taken by the pilgrims is very scenic and the arrival at the temple quite extraordinary.
April Festivals

April Festival: this national festival is held to pay reverence to the Hung Kings who played a major part in the founding of Vietnam. The festival lasts for three days during which there are processions, marches, singing and dancing. The highlight of the festival is the Elephant March followed by the processional chair.
Chu Dong Tu Festival: the celebrations for Saint Chu Dong Tu, a cultural hero, last for three days with a colourful procession. The festival is to remind people of Chu Dong Tu and the role he played in developing agriculture in Vietnam.
June Festivals

Chem Temple Festival: is to worship Ly Ong Trong who supported the Chinese Emperor when the Mongolians attacked.
August Festivals

Honchien Temple Festival: begins with a night procession near the Perfume River, a performance of imperial characters wearing colourful costumes. There is an atmosphere of excitement and festivity during this time that visitors will enjoy being a part of.
October Festivals

Keo Pagoda Festival: is held to celebrate Duong Khong Lo. The culmination of the festival are the traditional games that include duck catching, rice cooking competition, firecracker throwing contest and many more games.
November Festivals

Che Ngo Festival: this is the eve of the year for the Khmer people and is celebrated with many feasts, lantern rockets, boat races and many more activities.
