Introduction to Vung Tau - Front Beach
Vung Tau is a pretty beach resort in the south of Vietnam, just 78 miles from Ho Chi Minh City. There are several beaches in the city, but much of the tourist activity centres on Front Beach, nestled between Big Mountain and Small Mountain. A park separates the beach from the main part of the city, where tourist amenities such as restaurants, shops and Front Beach hotels can be found. In addition, the beach is well-known among local Vietnamese for its beautiful sunsets. Guests staying here have the opportunity to climb Big Mountain, where they can visit Villa Blanche, a former holiday home of the French colonial regime. The villa's balcony offers one of the best views of Front Beach. At the other end of the beach lies Small Mountain, with its own lighthouse, pagodas and a statue of Jesus Christ. Small Mountain is also well-regarded for its panoramic views. Plenty of buses from Ho Chi Minh City ply the route to Vung Tau, while three hydrofoil operators offer a different way to get here.
