Chau Doc is a busy and vibrant town sitting in the Mekong Delta and borders Vietnam and Cambodia. The main attraction in the area is the Sam Mountain and from here you can have stunning views of the sun set along the plain. The mountain has many shrines and temples with annual festivals celebrating some of the shrines. The Chau Doc market is worth a visit and here you can enjoy haggling with the vendors offering their local produce. There are a few hotels in Chau Doc but mainly you will find local guesthouses and from there you will find a convenient base from which to explore. The Chau Doc hotels are also reasonably priced and will accommodate the independent travellers. Getting around the area is probably best by hiring a motorbike and there are many motorbike and motorcycle taxis willing and eager to take you to see the sights.
