In the south of the beautiful Asian country of Vietnam, around 80 miles south of bustling Ho Chi Minh City, is the city of Can Tho. It lies on the famous Mekong Delta and is known locally as the 'River of Poems’. Hotels in Can Tho city centre are among the best in the region due to their central location, which makes exploring hassle-free. It is also famous for its floating markets on the city’s Hau River, where you can pick up mostly fresh produce which is locally grown, but there are some souvenir items available as well. Other sights to see include the Bird Gardens and the Can Tho Museum, tracing the city’s history. Being much quieter and less busy than other Vietnamese cities, Can Tho is a tranquil alternative to Vietnam’s bustling coastal resorts and Delta tourist towns. The best time to visit the city is during the dry season from December through April.
