Introduction to Caracas - El Rosal
The Venezuelan capital city of Caracas may have a dubious reputation when it comes to safety, but few parts of the city are as safe to stay in and explore than the neighbourhood of El Rosal. This suburb lies almost directly east of the city centre in Chacao, the smallest of the Caracas Metropolitan Area's five municipalities. Accommodation here costs more than in any others in Venezuela, and El Rosal hotels rank among the most expensive of all. However, the cheapest rates are usually offered on weekends. El Rosal is primarily a residential and business district containing several national banking offices. The district is also where the Caracas Stock Exchange and Banking Association of Venezuela are situated. The major corporations of Bayer and 3M also have offices here. El Rosal's main tourist attractions are its two major shopping centres, the Galipan Centre and Lido, which is primarily a business centre. The embassies of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Italy, South Africa, and Mexico can all be found here.
