Lelepa Island: this is a full day experience to one of Efate’s outer islands. From Port Vila, a 35 minute drive and a 10 minute boat ride will take you to this tiny island to enjoy a fun-packed day of swimming, snorkelling and fish-feeding. For those who like their day more active, a guided bush walk, a visit to the local village and historic caves are also available. Don’t forget to take some cash to buy the local handicrafts, which make great souvenirs.
Mount Yasur: the island of Tanna is only a 45 minute flight from Efate. This much wilder and more primitive island is home to Mount Yasur. At a height of 360 meters above sea level, the volcano was regularly featured on the TV show Survivor Vanuatu.
Beach: Eton Beach is one of the most popular and idyllic beaches for tourists, located on the island’s east coast, about 43kms from Port Vila. The beach is right on the edge of a freshwater inlet, where the rocks and coral combine to shape a terrific and safe swimming location with expansive coves.
Further to the north is Takara Beach at Undine Bay with fine views of numerous smaller islands. Closer to Port Vila you can find Erakor Island, the public beach opposite Wihite Sandy Country Club and the black sand beach at Mele Bay.
Coongoola Cruise: this cruise will see you on a traditional 23 metre sailing ketch setting out from Havannah Harbour to discover crystal clear waters, fine white coral sand beaches, reef snorkelling and a turtle rookery. Feed the fish and see some dolphins if you’re in luck. The trip includes a beach barbecue, morning and afternoon tea.
