Introduction to Portland, Oregon
Portland, Oregon is the state’s biggest and best known city which lies just south of Oregon’s border with the state of Washington at the foot of majestic Mount Hood.

Not surprisingly, there are more hotels in Portland than any other city in Oregon.

Many of the Portland hotels in the city’s downtown belong to well known chains, but Portland hotels situated further away from downtown tend to be more affordable.

Some of Portland’s more unique mid range hotels include a hotel offering free wine tasting in its lobby and another hotel housed inside a former school where many of the rooms still include blackboards and other classroom accessories.

Of course, hundreds of other Portland hotel options are also available, from two budget hostels to dozens of luxury resorts and bed and breakfast locations.

Regardless of which Portland hotels visitors choose, however, booking in advance is highly suggested, especially during the busy summer tourist season and Portland’s annual Rose and Blues festivals.
