Introduction to Allendale, Michigan
The community of Allendale is located on the banks of the Grand River, in the US state of Michigan. Travellers can reach Allendale hotels from Grand Rapids by taking the Rapid public bus service (number 50) along Lake Michigan Drive (M-45). However, those who wish to stray off this bus route will require a car. The community centres on the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) campus, home to Lubbers Stadium. This is the home stadium of the Grand Valley State Lakers, the university's American football team. Given that there are few cultural attractions in the area, many visitors make an effort to catch a game at the stadium. The large student population ensures decent nightlife, with the excellent local cider the local drink of choice. Those who would prefer something more physical could play a round at the Meadows Golf Club, GVSU's own links-style course. There is one museum in the community, Allendale Engine House, located on Lake Michigan Drive.
