Ras Al Khaimah Travel Guide - Activities

Visit the National Museum: to get a feeling of the history as well as the ancient past of Ras Al Khaimah. The museum provides visitors with an excellent introduction to the historical roots of Arab culture and tradition and is the perfect starting place – before venturing out to archaeological sites and generally touring the area. The National Museum is located next to the police station in the city centre.
Driving: driving from Ras Al Khaimah to Dubai, for example, will take you through spectacularly scenic areas that include views of mountains and the ruins of settlements dating back to medieval times. Farther inland, you’ll some across ancient tombs among the mountains and also prehistoric carvings on the walls of caves.
Shopping: it’s worthwhile paying a visit to the local souks, particularly if you’re interested in gold ornaments and handicrafts. The Ras Al Khaimah Shopping Festival is now an annual event held at the exhibition centre under the sponsorship of Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of the emirate.
