In many parts of the Middle East, alcohol is prohibited, with Dubai being one of the most well-known exceptions: non-Muslims are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages in bars, clubs and restaurants throughout the city.
It’s actually quite easy to forget that there are regulations concerning alcohol when you’re enjoying a night out in Dubai, as the government has done an excellent job of making sure that visitors have a chance to fully enjoy themselves during their stay.
Happy hours are featured at most bars, as are Ladies Nights, typically on Tuesday and Sunday. Thursday and Saturday are the busiest nights and when you’ll find the best party atmosphere. The legal drinking age in Dubai is 21.
The club scene is somewhat unusual in that venues tend to be patronised according to ethnic and sometimes national identity. There is a Western-style club scene developing here though, as well-known DJs are attracted to the city. The law requires clubs to close by 03:00; and many clubs, by choice, admit those over 25 only.
