Taxis: taxis in Dubai can be found at most any street corner, and both metered and non-metered varieties are available. If you choose a non-metered vehicle it’s recommended that you negotiate a price before beginning your trip; and you may find that you’d be more comfortable using the metered vehicles.
The city is divided by the ‘Creek’ into two distinct areas, with water taxis providing transport from one side to the other. Water taxis are wooden boats, and provide travellers with an inexpensive and interesting perspective of both areas of the city.
Hire cars: hiring a car can make it easier to see all of the attractions Dubai has to offer – rather than having to hire a taxi each time you want to venture out of your hotel. Most every major car hire company is represented at the airport, and there are a number of reliable local companies providing service as well. A partial list of operators includes: Autolease, Avis, Budget, DXBmond, Europcar, FAST, Hertz, National, Patriot, Sixt and Thrifty.
A wide range of vehicles is typically on offer, ranging from economy models to sports cars and luxury sedans. Booking ahead of time online is always recommended as you can be assured of having a car available, and you are able to compare prices from a number of car hire companies, finding the best offers.
