By air: Abu Dhabi International Airport is serviced by flights from most major hubs in Asia and Europe, including London’s Gatwick and Heathrow airports, Manchester, Frankfurt and Singapore. Flight time to Abu Dhabi from London, for example, is 6 hours, 50 minutes.
Airport facilities include a bank, currency exchange, ATMs and a post office. In Terminal 1, you’ll also find snack bars, coffee shops and a restaurant with a bar; in Terminal 2 you’ll find a number of cafes. Also located in Terminal 2 is a VIP lounge.
By bus: the city’s main bus terminal is situated to the south of the centre, but the services that utilise this station travel only in and around Abu Dhabi itself. Adjacent to this terminal is the minibus and long-distance taxi station, where you’ll find service available to Dubai, and also Sharjah and Al Ain.
By road: Abu Dhabi is accessible by road from the other Emirates, as well as from Oman and Qatar. The main highways are maintained in reasonably good condition. Driving is on the right; and you are advised that local driving standards are not high, and fatalism is the order of the day. Defensive driving is highly recommended.
