Introduction to Fujairah, UAE
With its location in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Fujairah does not have a coastline and the Persian Gulf Cost, which is about 30kms from the city, is the closest beach to town. The city of Fujairah has little to see and is predominately a business district and as such the large majority of hotels in Fujairah cater for business travellers. However, if you are using Fujairah hotels as a base to explore then there are some excellent boat trips available to neighbouring islands in the Gulf of Oman where various water sports such as fishing can be done. Also recommended is a day trip to the beaches at Khor Fakkan and a drive through the Hajar Mountains which border into Oman. If staying in the city, you will find some of the hotels in Fujairah have entertainment on site including bowling alleys and clubs. Hotels are generally fairly expensive and lack traditional character.
