Introduction to Al Ain, UAE
The city of Al ain is in the eastern region of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), adjacent to the nation's border with Oman. It is on the opposite side of the country to the better known Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Due to its dry atmosphere and lush greenery, it is nicknamed the Garden City. The central thoroughfare runs next to the palm-lined Al ain Oasis and the city's main bazaar. In this area, there are several old fortresses, the national museum and restaurants where diners can enjoy Middle Eastern delicacies as well as meals at international fast-food outlets. There is a great Al ain hotels selection in the central area, which offers convenient access to tourist sites, shops and eateries. Hotel bars are the only places where visitors can buy alcoholic drinks in the city. Hili Archaeological Park, the city zoo and Jebel Hafeet mountain are tourist draws within a short distance of the centre. The mountain towers over the city and is a great vantage point.
