Introduction to Abu Dhabi - Liwa
Liwa Oasis is located on the edge of Abu Dhabi's most magnificent desert. As well as its oasis, Liwa is home to a group of villages where tourist amenities can be found. Drinkers will find places here that serve alcohol. Mezaira'a is the main village, where a number of shops and a petrol station are among the useful facilities. Liwa hotels are great bases for heading out to the Tal Mireb sand dune to the south of the villages. Driving out here, travellers will notice that there are very few vehicles on the road as the area is completely uninhabited. The dune is 300 metres high and popular with photography enthusiasts. In addition, the dune hosts four-wheel drive competitions at certain times of the year and is a good picnic spot during the cooler months. Guests might like to camp for a night in the desert.
