Introduction to Abu Dhabi - Abu Dhabi Airport
Abu Dhabi International Airport is the second-biggest airport in the UAE, able to serve up to 12 million passengers each year. Many of the flights at the hub are operated by Etihad Airways, the national airline, which runs flights from Asia, Europe and North America. Travellers from the UK can get here by flying from Manchester or London-Heathrow, with Etihad, or from London-Heathrow with British Airways. There are two passenger terminals at the airport, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The newer Terminal-3 building caters exclusively to Etihad flights, while the older Terminal 1 hosts all other airlines. On arrival, travellers can reach the city centre by taking a fixed-rate Al Ghazal taxi or a metered taxi. In either case, the journey should take around 40 minutes. There are long queues for taxis in the evenings, so visitors could consider staying at one of the excellent Abu Dhabi Airport hotels. Both terminals offer a range of services, such as currency exchange, prayer rooms and shower facilities. Free wireless internet is provided across the airport, as is free internet access from a number of standalone terminals.Visit our Abu Dhabi Travel Guide
