The most common ailment of new visitors to Turkey is bad stomachs and diarrho;ea associated with the change in diet and different standards of hygiene in Turkey. This is a particular concern for North Americans and Western Europeans but is rarely serious.
Generally, Turkey’s healthcare system is satisfactory with good public and private healthcare coverage in big cities. Emergency services are also available in rural areas but coverage is much more limited.
