Introduction to Seferihisar, Turkey

Seferihisar is a Turkish coastal district and town located in the centre of the district of the same name, in the province of Izmir. The town itself is located slightly inland and stands 28 metres above sea level. The urban area, which extends towards the sea, is made up of eight quarters, with Sigacik where the port is as well as the main tourism area. The population almost trebles during the tourist season, but the main economy in the district is agriculture, particularly relating to the production of satsumas and tangerines. Among the main sights in Seferihisar is the ancient Ionian city of Teos, which provides an interesting insight into the area and the chance to take in fascinating ruins. Seferihisar hotels can be found throughout the area and there are a few nice resorts and spas located in the town centre. There are also plenty of nice beaches to choose from along the area's Aegean coastline.
