The Turkish destination of Pamukkale is just one of several spa locations in the area around Akkoy. Pamukkale has been attracting tourists to its amazing hot water pools and mineral formations for more than 2,000 years and it is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is also home to Hieropolis, a 12,000-seat amphitheatre built by the Romans that is considered a must-see. Visitors can even swim amongst Roman ruins here. Hotels in Akkoy are within easy reach of this historic destination, which is less than 15 minutes away, as well as other spa towns in the region. More thermal springs and mud baths can be found at Golemezli, 15 minutes to the north. Karahayit, just five minutes away, is the closest spa resort.
