Olympos is an ancient Turkish city located in a valley on the country's south coast, 90kms to the southwest of the city of Antalya and close to the town of Kumluca. The modern day town has transformed from a hippy haven to a hotspot for tourism, with Olympos hotels, guesthouses and hostels large in number. Visitors flock here in their masses during the summertime, giving Olympos the feel of a regular holiday resort. However, despite the large visitor numbers, the town retains its beauty, yet many visitors consider it to be at its most attractive in the low season. The ancient ruins are well worth visiting and can only be reached by walking along an ancient winding path, which provides a mystical feel to the trip. The beach is popular, and water sports such as kayaking are on offer, although shade is limited so it is wise to take plenty sunscreen. Evening entertainment is fairly lively, with bars and restaurants open until the early hours.
