Introduction to Marmaris - Cildir
Cildir is one of the main streets in the popular Turkish resort of Marmaris. Marmaris hotels here offer easy access to the beach as well as the main nightlife area of Bar Street. Visitors to the district typically spend most of their time in the warm Aegean waters off the coast or touring the area by boat cruise. Up to 200,000 visitors converge on the resort in high season, meaning there is little authentic Turkish culture to soak up in the resort itself aside from a handful of authentic local eateries and Turkish baths. Yet there are interesting daytrips for the culturally discerning, including jeep trips to the old world villages of the nearby Bozburun Peninsula and excursions to the Greek and Roman ruins on Cleopatra Island, also known as Sedir. Nationally important sites such as Ephesus and Pamukkale can also be visited. Back at the resort, a sophisticated evening can be spent at the harbour while there is no better way to spend a day than at the beach.
