Introduction to Kayseri, Turkey
Central Anatolia's bustling Kayseri is the seat of the Turkish province of the same name and one of the country's most populated cities. The south of the city is bordered by the 3,916m high Mount Erciyes, popular with trekkers and skiers alike. This popular stop for visitors en route to Cappadocia, 70kms to the west, is loved by tourists for its historical sightseeing as well as its culinary delights. The centre offers a number of monuments, dating to the Seljuk and Ottoman periods, including Hunat Hatun Camii Mosque, along with various tombs, schools and hospitals. While the ancient trade of the Silk Road has diminished, Kayseri today does a good trade selling hand-woven carpets to tourists. Kayseri hotels often serve up the local speciality of mantisi, minced meat wrapped in dough and boiled. Getting to this out-of-the-way Turkish city is best achieved by air, via the nearby Erkilet International Airport.other spellings: kayserry otel, cayseri hotell, kaysari hote, kayserri hotels, kaysuri hotle, gayseri
