Introduction to Izmir - City Centre
Izmir, Turkey's third largest city, is situated along the Aegean Sea's shores. The city lies between the beautiful coastline and stunning mountains, providing excellent photographic opportunities. The city centre is charming, sprinkled with old remains and more recent establishments. The clock tower is found in Konak Square and has become the symbol of the city. Kultur Park (Culture Park) can also be found and plays hosts to the annual Izmir International Fair every September. Throughout the year, there are many other expos and fairs which take place here. The park also offers a laid-back green area in the city centre where people can relax, play backgammon, drink tea or for those feeling a little more energetic, exercise on the park's running track.
