Located along the Mediterranean coast, Alsancak hotels can be found within the city's old quarters in the perfect location for visiting the sights throughout Izmir as well as relaxing on its beaches. Alsancak is also filled with eateries, bars and discotheques, and is one of the more trendy areas in Izmir set along the metro line. The Alsancak railway station is the oldest in all of Turkey, dating back to 1866, and is a sight to see. Konok Square is one of the city's main attractions and is best known for its unique clock tower. The mosque within the square is also worth visiting, and the fantastic Kemeralti Bazaar can also be found here. A walk along the waterfront promenade is highly recommended and makes for a leisurely afternoon gazing at palm trees and the Aegean Sea.
