Introduction to Istanbul - Airport
Istanbul Airport is located to the southwest of the city, on the European side. It is just 23kms from downtown Istanbul, which can be reached via metro or tram as well as by the O-2 and O-3 highways. It is Turkey's busiest airport, with an international terminal - which is both efficient and spacious - providing all the necessary services such as ATMs, money exchange, restaurants, car hire and internet access. Istanbul Airport hotels could save you time and money, particularly if your flight is scheduled during rush hour. However, between night time and early morning, it only takes 35 minutes to reach the airport by taxi from the city centre. By metro or tram, it generally takes about an hour from the city to the airport.
