Introduction to Datca - Beach
The Datca Peninsula is said to be one of Turkey's most beautiful stretches of coastline. It features small, scenic coves as well as larger bays, while the peninsula's famous windmills characterise the inland landscape. Many guests visit the region on cruises from Bodrum or Marmaris, with some stopping at Datca Beach hotels on the way. There are also regular buses from Marmaris, 80kms away, though the road is uneven in many parts. Otherwise, there are ferries from Bodrum which arrive in the north of the peninsula. Most of the coastal settlements are low-key, with none of the large developments that have blighted other parts of the coast. Much of the accommodation is family-run, allowing local people to receive the benefits of tourist development. The main historical attraction on the peninsula is the ancient Greek city of Knidos, situated 30kms from the main Datca village. Knidos is home to the ruins of an amphitheatre which has stunning views of the Mediterranean but the famous Aphrodite statue which once stood here, an ancient tourist attraction, has long since disappeared. other spellings: datcahotels beach, datca otel bech, datcha hote bach, datga beazch hotles, hotell in datka
