Introduction to Bolu, Turkey
Located halfway between Ankara and Istanbul, Bolu is perhaps one of the most enthralling areas of Turkey. It is famous for its fauna, dense forest, and modern hot spring facilities, and a number of hotels in Bolu cater to visitors to the area. Lake Abant in Bolu City is remarkably beautiful, dotted as it is with water lilies and surrounded by verdant forest. Bolu hotels and resorts are established around the lake, providing excellent views in a relaxed atmosphere. Yedigoller National Park is another gorgeous site only 14kms from the city, ideal for treks and picnics. For skiers, the Koroglu Mountains are home to Kartalkaya, which offer resorts and hotels in Bolu for weekend getaways, and is only 38kms from the city. For a taste of Turkish architecture and traditional wooden houses, a trip to Mudurnu is a must. Further on is Goynuk town, which is on the former trade routes of Anatolia. This area is popular for traditional Turkish houses and the Aksemsettin Mausoleum. The beaches on the island of Boracay lie just a 60 minute flight away from Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Boracay’s beaches are said to rival those found in Thailand, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. The largest and best known of Boracay’s beaches is the appropriately named Boracay White Beach, which also happens to be Boracay’s main commercial hub as well as the location of most Boracay hotels. The most luxurious Boracay hotels are located north of Station 1, one of White Beach’s three sections, while those searching for quiet, yet more affordable Boracay hotels will most likely find them south of White Beach's Station 3. Boracay residents often offer beds in their own homes to visitors, which is perhaps the cheapest accommodation option of all. Booking hotels in Boracay is highly recommended during December, Holy Week and other peak periods.
