Introduction to Antalya - Beach
Antalya is the biggest city on Turkey's Mediterranean coast and considered to be the gateway to the Turkish Riviera. The city is famed for its historical sites, but the region's beaches remain the most popular attraction among visiting Europeans. The city has a number of its own beaches, such as Konyaaltı, located at the edge of the old city. This district's beaches consist of both sand and shingle sections which stretch for miles along the coast, to the west of the city. The water here is slightly cooler than the water at the city's other beaches, but it is suitable for swimming nonetheless. Konyaaltı's beaches, set against the stunning backdrop of the Beydağları Mountains, are reachable by bus or on foot. The other main beach is Lara Beach, home to some of the most luxurious Antalya Beach hotels. Many of these residences are replicas of well-known landmarks around the world, leading the district to be known by many as the 'Las Vegas of Turkey'. Lara Beach is well-located for air travellers at just eight kilometres from Antalya International Airport.
