Introduction to Alanya - Payallar
Several kilometres along the Turkish coast from Alanya is the coastal community of Payallar. The small traditional village here is heavily balanced by foreign expats and second-home owners who want a sunny holiday spot on the Mediterranean. What little town there is lies spread out along the main coastal road, offering visitors a smattering of unremarkable restaurants and shops. The rugged hills that rise off the coast are a main feature of Payallar, which is dotted with housing estates and dirt roads favoured by four-wheel drive enthusiasts. Payallar Belediyesi is the most notable cultural site in the area, and a handful of public spots like Gazi, Menderes and Buyukyer provide an alternative to the beautiful beaches here. Most of the Payallar hotels are inclusive resorts catering to wealthy beach-goers who want something more inclusive and quieter than what is on offer in Alanya.
