Eating Out

Eating Out and Dining Guide to Tunis
In Tunis, the restaurants belonging to the reputable hotels such as the Sheraton Tunis Hotel & Towers and the El Hana International Hotel are certainly worthy of mention and likely to offer an excellent selection of both Tunisian and international cuisine.
For excellent food in the latter category meanwhile, be sure to visit the French bistro, Chez Nous located in the downtown district. For genuine, authentic Tunisian food, the way the locals like it, seek out those establishments in the old medina where tourists are few and far between.
Dishes eaten at the homes of locals may not always be deemed exciting enough to be included on restaurant menus however whatever the case, for a really authentic dining experience, visitors should seek out traditional preparations such as the pepper soup known as chorba; the clay-pot cooked lamb dish called koucha and the tasty fried pastry affair with egg inside known as brik a l'oeuf.
