Introduction to Tunis - Beach
At first glance, Tunisia's modern national capital may not seem to have much to offer in terms of beaches. But visitors will find its Mediterranean Sea coastline to be far less crowded than many Tunisian beach resorts with smaller populations. Most budget Tunis Beach hotels are situated in the medina, or old city, while mid-range accommodation can be found north of Place Barcelone, in the city's new section. As in most other parts of Tunisia's Mediterranean Sea coastline, the waters are languid and the sands are golden at the city's beaches. The traditional souk is ranked among North Africa's most authentic, while some of the Bardo Museum's many mosaics occupy an entire floor. Even though only the courtyard of Tunisia's second-most important mosque, the Olive Tree Mosque, isn't accessible to non-Muslims, all visitors can admire the intricate architecture of this ancient building whose last reconstruction took place in 864 AD.
