Remaining healthy while travelling is a must to ensure you get the most out of your trip and that it is an enjoyable one. The first and foremost basic requirement one should make before travelling is to take out travel insurance which should cover for all eventualities, including accidents, medical treatment, theft, loss of baggage and missed travel connections. In addition, making an appointment with your doctor for a check-up and to possibly receive jabs, such as for malaria if you intend on travelling to a malaria-infected region, is also on the 'must' list. Vaccinations and/or boosters should be taken at least six to eight weeks before your intended departure to allow the immune system to build up protection.
