Choosing accommodation is the first thing to consider when planning a trip after the visas and plane tickets have been sorted. With the world travel market more varied than ever, most countries that are desirable as a holiday destination offer a full range of accommodation from budget guesthouses to luxurious five-star resorts. Within each country's range of quality, prices vary accordingly, and what you'll pay in one country may be a lot cheaper than what you would pay for the same thing in another. European countries have a reputation for being expensive, especially with the high exchange rate of the Euro. Some Asian countries like Japan are notoriously expensive, as are the countries of Scandinavia. Travellers on more of a budget tend to favour developing countries like India or the countries of Southeast Asia where you get more for your money accommodation-wise.
