Washington Travel Guide
Not to be mistaken with the capital of the USA, Washington DC, Washington state is on the northwestern side of the country. Named after former President George Washington, the state has Canada on one side, and Oregon, Idaho and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Known for its natural beauty, Washington state includes the Cascade Mountains, Mount St. Helens ? the only active volcano in Washington - and the famous Puget Sound. Here, visitors can enjoy whale watching or go hiking in the three national parks: North Cascades National Park, Olympic National Park and Mount Rainier National Park. Washington state has excellent transportation facilities, including 16 regional airports. It is easy to drive from Washington into Canada, for those wishing to explore further afield.
