Missouri Travel Guide
This rugged area of the American midwest is a region where cowboys begin to outnumber executives and the dusty roads of the Great Plains reign supreme. In St Louis, the historic origin of the Lewis and Clark Expedition is commemorated with an enormous, inverted steel arch on the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. There is also a 91-acre park of protected sea and landscape in tribute to the Louisiana Purchase, the Mississippi River and the slavery debate arising from the Dred Scott case of 1856. Over four million visitors arrive each year to view the Old Courthouse and ride the Ferris wheel-like tram of the 630-foot tall Gateway Arch monument. A state known for its Old West feel, a trip to Missouri will take visitors down the road back in time.
