Massachusetts Travel Guide
Most tourists who visit Massachusetts head for historic Boston, but the state has plenty to offer outside this popular urban centre. From the rolling Berkshire Hills in the western part of the state to the Cape Cod coast on the east, there is a great variety of outdoor activities available. To the north of Boston, the small city of Salem will take you back in history to the time of witch trials and executions, which took place in the late 17th century. Martha?s Vineyard, a popular island destination off the southeastern coast of Massachusetts, is a seasonal playground for celebrities and the well-to-do. It?s easily reached by ferry from the mainland and boasts some of the finest restaurants and inns anywhere in the state.
